I grew up in Scarborough, Maine and Flaherty’s Farm was the place I drove by that had cows in a field and their little store across the street. This may sound exaggerated… but it’s true. Flaherty’s Farm Event Barn is a new thing. I believe they have only been doing weddings for a year and a half or so. Growing up in Scarborough there were cows just grazing in the field where the event center is now located. Seeing how they have turned this plot of land, and barn, into a modern rustic event center is an amazing thing to see.
The interior of the barn is all natural wood from floor to ceiling – you can smell it as soon as you walk in. There is an addition on the right side of the barn that has two bathrooms and a small “kitchen” at the end. The barn itself is small, with two pillars on the left, decorated with white “twinkle” lights and old wagon wheels also draped with white lights.
There is a large field on the left side of the barn with 2 doors that lead indoors. I understand with larger events they put a tent out there to have dinner and dancing is resumed indoors. My particular event the field was used for cocktail hour and dinner & formal reception was inside the barn.
Flaherty’s Farm also provides a gazebo for you to have your ceremony at. It is a good 500+ feet down a nice gravel road they have built. There are benches made of rough cut wood, a modern gazebo, and electricity to provide sound for the ceremony. At the same location, set back in the woods just a little, there is a fire pit and benches for you to enjoy. I had the pleasure of riding in a golf cart, which can be rented, to get my equipment back up to the barn.
There are a lot of beautiful rustic places to have your wedding. I believe Flaherty’s Even Barn is in the top 3. After talking with the owners daughter I know that they have 11 events booked for 2017 already! If you are looking for an amazing venue to host your wedding and this farm is on your list… hurry, dates are filling fast!
