Maine Wedding VenueWhen I booked my June 18, 2016 wedding at the Wells Conference Center in Orono, ME I was not sure what to expect. What I had pictured in my mind, a boring empty room used for lectures, wasn’t even close to what the Wells Conference Center at UMO has to offer; sure, the room is used for formal lectures, lessons, or other functions and it a resembles a room that would have those services.

But the room also has a beautiful, glass enclosed, “sunroom” that spans the length of the entire banquet hall. The staff at the hall had decorated the area with tables that had a faux gold marble top, table scrims to make the bottoms look unique and modern… There were two bars, one at either end of this long room, that were modern and classy. Along the banquet hall you would find the o’dourves and nonalcoholic drinks. What a beautiful area to have a cocktail hour for your guests. I was very impressed with the way the area was dressed.

The actual banquet area is gigantic! Holding up to 200 guests for a banquet and 300+ for a lecture. There are walls that can be pulled to make the area smaller, as needed, depending on the size of your wedding or function. The hall has a full kitchen in the back and a little area where the buffet is set up on s-curve tables. You would NEVER know you’re at a Maine college.

…One of the guests at the wedding had attended UMO for college years ago. I guess the Wells Conference Center was once the cafeteria… That explains the kitchen! 😉

What I am getting at is… If you’re looking at the Wells Conference Center for your wedding reception I would highly recommend using the facility. The perks are ample parking, a classy and elegant feel, in the heart of an area surrounded by hotels, food, and drink. The catering was fantastic, the staff was super friendly and helpful…. Like I said, you would never know you were at a college. It was a beautiful place to share in the newlyweds beautiful day!

Hats off to the university and the staff for offering such a lovely place to have a wide variety of events…. and doing it right at the same time!
