Music and Your Wedding

As experienced wedding DJs in Maine we have seen a lot of different reactions to the music that makes people dance. We have seen a lot of reactions to the music that doesn’t make people dance, too. It is important to note the key differences of “people”. As a general term we are talking about the guests at your wedding. With that understood – what “does” and “does not” work is also very different. Each wedding comes with a unique group of guests. Backgrounds, ethnicity, heritage, and upbringings all contribute to each and every guest at every wedding. Not to mention the honorary couple themselves. This is where getting to know you will help your DJ tailor a custom soundtrack to your wedding.

Now, Rap Music and Your Wedding

“Rap” can have a quite a few negative connotations with it and honestly these generalizations/stereotypes most likely are coming from our grandparents. There are also styles of rap, right? If you were to think about “pop rap” artists like 50 Cent, Notorious BIG, Puff Daddy, Ma$e, Nelly, Salt n Pepa, Ludacris, even Eminem, all come to mind. These artists can fly very well at a wedding when incorporated properly. If you want to get a little more “urban” we think of Cardi B, Meghan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Lil Jon, Drake, and iLoveMemphis. These artists blend the urban and the pop really well but the lyrical content will probably offend nana. Mom and dad didn’t come to listen to Gunna – Pushin’ P. Neither did your aunts, uncles, grandparents… you get the point.

Your Wedding Soundtrack

needs to be tailored to you. Our award winning Maine DJ Services have proven time and time again that we can rock your dance floor. If rap is important to you and needs to be incorporated into your wedding we get it. There is a time and a place for songs and artists. Some are meant to jam to in your car on the way home from work and others are intended to make you want to jam on a dance floor. Keep in mind 50 Cent – In Da Club can fly pretty early in the night and Cardi B – Wap needs to be played when gramps has gone home to sleep…. preferably your parents, too.

Check Out This Quick List

to see if there are any songs you’d like to bounce to at your wedding! Important note: all of the music at your wedding should and NEEDS to be edited. Always – even though this playlist does not reflect this rule…. it’s one to remember.
