Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the most common questions I receive from potential clients. If you are looking for an answer to a question that is not here don’t hesitate to reach out.

Top 5 Questions

Below are the top 5 questions I am asked during the booking and onboarding of new clients.

There are a lot more at the bottom of the page.

What is your pricing and what does it include?
For the most accurate and up-to-date pricing, you definitely need to go through my contact form.
Do you have a specific style or genre you specialize in?
I am open format DJ meaning that I have the ability to be flexible across genres, decades, and styles. If there is a genre of music for your wedding/event that I am not familiar with it is an opportunity for you to help educate me.
Will you be at the event alone or will you have other people helping you?
As of September 2024 I am a lone ranger. A one man show from start to finish!
How often are you "on the mic" talking during the event?
Less is more for any event. No one wants to hear me talk. There are a lot of variables here; however, I am there, but I am not. Blend into the background, let the music do the talking, and only get on the mic as needed. Clear and concise are 2 great adjectives.
How and when can I request specific songs to be played?

Once we are officially booked for your wedding I will provide access to your online portal. In here we will start working together to put your song selections into a user-friendly and shareable interface.

Other Common Questions

What time/how early do you get to the venue to set up?

I will show up between 2 and 4 hours early, depending on what you have booked for your wedding or event. It is important that you know what your venue allows, as some have less time available for setup and teardown. *Note: Weddings are 3 hours on average, and other events are largely variable.

When do I have to pay you - before or after the event?

All events require that a contract and deposit be paid before you can consider your event “booked”. As with all of my events, how long you have to pay your deposit varies. *Note: The deposit for a wedding is 33% of the total package and due 10 days after I send your contract. This allows us time to work through it and answer any questions you may have.

Will you coordinate with my event planner or work independently?

I am here to support you and your coordinator. We will still do our own planning together, and after a timeline has been created, I will work hand in hand with your coordinator to flesh out discrepancies. On the day of your wedding I am there to support your coordinator and the majority of communication will be them on the wedding day.

How long does it take you to break everything down after the event?

For the vast majority of events, I can be out in an hour or less. Keep in mind that the more services we booked the longer it takes for me to break down.

If I want a photo booth, can that be included in my package for a discounted price?

As you add more services to your overall package I do make appropriate discounts. My basic package for weddings already includes a discount and I am a little less flexible depending on your needs. *Note: I do not usually book the photo booth when I am DJ’ing there are exceptions to that rule.

What is your backup plan in case of equipment failure?

To be completely transparent, I have enough equipment with me at all times to DJ two weddings. With that, I have protocols and backup systems that are built into the primary setup.

Do you act as the MC or host for the event?

Sure do! The voice you hear on all of my social media outlets is the voice you get at your wedding/event. There is no WWE wrestling or radio voice here.

How do you handle song requests from guests?

Whether you do or do not want song requests is up to you; however, most of my clients are open to guest requests because they know that I am the gatekeeper. If we are in the middle of 2010’s bangers and someone requests Johnny Cash, I’ll say something along the lines of: “That’s a great song. I’ll see if I can get it in.” That’s a very polite “no”. 🙂 Must play and do not plays I limit, and your play, if possible, list is infinitely long and acceptable. Most couples send me a Spotify list.

Can you provide references or reviews from previous clients?

For sure!  Check out these spots:

What is your experience and how long have you been DJing weddings?

I have been a professional DJ since 2014. My primary focus has been destination weddings in Maine, but I have traveled all over New England to celebrate with couples. When my son was born in 2018, I went head-on and became a full-time DJ. As of 2024, that is six years full-time. I have averaged 30-40 weddings a year, so over the course of 10 years, that is a lot of weddings.
