The Hitching Post of Maine
is located in Dayton, Maine less than 15 minutes from Saco and Hollis Center. A beautiful barn set on a wonderful piece of land that is well manicured and maintained. The barn was completely re-done when they opened and an indoor bar with plenty of bathrooms were added to the back of the barn. From there you are on a beautiful stone patio with Adirondack chairs, and wood barrels for cocktail tables. Up the hill from the patio you’ll find a pebble walkway leading to a hilltop ceremony spot with an arbor and rough cut wood, tree, seating.
The Wedding Ceremony
started with a prelude consisting of Vitamin String Quartet covers of contemporary songs – making them sound classical and elegant. The processional song choice was Piano Guys – A Thousand Years and Lexi & Nick’s recessional of Brett Eldredge – Love Someone
The Grand Introduction
As a Maine Wedding DJ I get to see a lot of different styles from brides and grooms all over the world. Lexi and Nick wanted the grand entrance of grand entrances. Smoke machines, bubbles, sunglasses and a song choice that’ll be rare to come across again: DMX – X Gon’ Give it To Ya. There is a specific part of the intro where DMX says “Open The Doors” and that’s when Lexi and Nick had the barn doors opened for the grand entrance in style.

We provided three individual setups for The Hitching Post. It is our belief, as awarded DJs in Maine, that a seamless soundtrack for your wedding is important. What this means is having an independent setup in locations where music, or announcements, will be needed so that as guests move throughout a venue there is never a moment where music is not being played. Having been a Maine DJ at The Hitching Post pretty often we knew that the barn needs your expected DJ setup consisting of an adequate sound system, two wireless microphones, pre-recorded music, and backup equipment included. Their back patio we use a battery operated speaker to provide cocktail music of the couples choice. And, finally, the ceremony on top of the hill has it’s own powered system, with microphones, and pre-recorded music. Perfection is impossible – but, we still strive for it.
